Smaller airports, as most of us refer to, are general aviation airports for private jets and private jet charter flights are particularly popular with over 5300 airports available for public use by pilots of general aviation aircraft in the United States alone, 1000 in Canada. General aviation flights range from turboprops to super heavy jets and non-scheduled cargo jet flights. The majority of the world's air traffic falls into this category, and most of the world's airports serve general aviation exclusively.

Ironically it is the small business owners and its employees using private jets for meeting clients, inspecting factories, rushing critical information to a customer, and monitoring their own businesses around the globe that are giving business jets and business aviation the wheels up boost it needs. The small business travelers are able to operate over more territory and at an increased pace.

One major benefit of private jet usage is the airport access it has over commercial airliners, approx. 6000 airports versus 650 for commercial flights. A small business executive to charter a jet to an out of way airport with-in closer proximity than a commercial airliner could reach, saves them time and money from having to rent vehicles for ground transportation, driving absurd miles from a commercial airport versus a general aviation airport that may be with-in a mile or two of their destination. It also saves them money to not need overnight accommodations, meals, ect., than needed to conduct business, which would add more expense to electing a commercial flight versus a private flight.
The NBTA, National Business Travel Association had research conducted by another source to conclude who does the most business travel and the results surprised many to end up being the middle management, small business executives and owners came out on top. The main reason for the survey was all the media over a few embarrassing choices of some VIPs using business expenses for personal pleasure. This media frenzy over focusing on a few in the limelight for so call bad choices actually effected the travel industry immensely. The NBTA and other major travel organizations and agencies acted quickly to prove that from surveys, facts and figures from the travel industry that business travelers were being portrayed inadequately and who were the biggest business boosters for the industry.
Surprisingly the re-launch of Charter Auction, previously associated with Jets.com and active since 1999, has contributed to the travel industry, specifically the private jet charter industry a great deal. The site, Charter Auction, www.charterauction.com, has reported that many new air charter clients, first time private jet charter fliers such as major sports professionals, NFL players, NBA players and celebrities have contributed to boosting a normally slow season for the private jet charter industry.
Charter Auction saves time, money and its ease of use to request private jet charter flights is showing up the industry as a leader. Placing a jet charter request with Charter Auction gets a client 6 or more quotes for private jet charter on one bid sheet that goes right to their in-box. The no-obligation bid sheet lets the client review the offers loaded with competitive pricing and various aircraft, and the client merely selects the best choice for them.
