Its not unusual in the summer months to see private jets to Maine soaring in carrying passengers such as the recent visit by President Obama and the first family were vacationing in Bar Harbor, Maine. The term summer colony is often used more commonly to describe well-known resorts and upper class enclaves near the ocean and mountains of New England.
